So in USA Network’s The Sinner, what’s gotten into Jessica Biel?

According to USA, the first installment of this “close-ended” series follows a young mother (Biel) who, when overcome by an inexplicable fit of rage, commits a startling act of violence and has no idea why.

We’ve all been there, right? Ok, maybe not quite that much rage.

Anyhow, the event launches this crime thriller whose driving force, according to the network, is not the “who” or “what” — but the “why” — as an investigator (Bill Pullman) finds himself obsessed with uncovering the woman’s “buried” motive.

“Together they travel a harrowing journey into the depths of her psyche and the violent secrets hidden in her past,” the description says.

The Sinner premieres August 2, 2017 on USA.

A psychological thriller about finding out why someone committed murder? Sure. I mean, come on…you had me at Jessica Biel.
