Having trouble keeping up with all the Marvel Cinematic Universe content? Good.
In Marvel’s The Defenders, reluctant-to-team-up-superheroes Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) do just that in order to save New York. (Isn’t it always in need of saving? And when we get tired of that, do we just change its name to Gotham? or Metropolis?)
According to the Netflix description, it’s “the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.”
Well yeah…isn’t that every superhero team-up?
I dig that Nirvana remix in the first trailer. Pretty cool, eh? I had to re-watch it because I was paying more attention to the soundtrack.
So you have a blind ninja, a smart-ass detective, a bulletproof ex-con, and a kung fu billionaire. New York appears to be in good hands, no?
I’ve not not kept up the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the years, mainly because there’s just so much good stuff out there. Marvel’s The Defenders looks like it will continue that tradition; it’s slick, action packed, and well produced.
Developed by Douglas Petrie (the films Fantastic Four & Harriet the Spy), Marvel’s the Defenders is a culmination of several recent interconnected shows in the MCU, so I imagine hardcore fans are looking forward to this.
The Netflix original launched for 8 episodes on August 18, 2017.
